Project 52, part 5

It’s Memorial Day weekend, which means I have Monday off from work! Though I originally didn’t have big plans for it, I did end up doing some fun things:

  • Hung out with a friend who was visiting for the weekend. He moved to California just 2 months ago, so I was glad he came back to see us 😀
  • Saw Mad Max: Fury Road, which was a wild ride. So much action and kick-ass women!
  • Played in a video game tournament with a team of 5 friends. (I can’t say which game because of NDA.) We didn’t win every game but did well enough to advance to the next one.
  • Spent a lot of time indoors due to rain, booooo.

And lastly, took a photo for week 21 of my Project 52! As usual, here is the recap for the past 4 weeks.

#18 – Wildflowers
We finally had a weekend of nice weather, so I took a walk at the Bull Creek Greenbelt. I was hoping there’d be a lot of wildflowers blooming now, especially since I’ve been seeing them on the side of the highway. There weren’t many, but I did manage to find a patch of them near the river.

#19 – Lazy Saturdays
It’s Peanut again! This is my friend’s cat, and we watched over him for a weekend since she was out of town. Here he is being super lazy.

#20 – Machine
I was actually taking a walk to photograph flowers along the road, but I saw that some construction machinery was parked nearby. That caught my eye, so I took photos of those instead.

#21 – Sushi
More photos of miniatures! This is a cute sushi RE-MENT set I bought a long time ago. Sadly, I don’t have the full set, so these are from 3 of the boxes. I always love the details on these. They look good enough to eat 🙂

The next recap will be at the half-way mark of my Project 52! Have a great week, everyone 🙂

I knew you would love Fury Road, I loved it so much, that I wanna see it again! 😀 Yeah, the rain is a drag, isn’t it? It’s sunny in the DFW area right now, but that could change. Lol

    Peanut is really adorable! =)

  • Mija says:

We loved Fury Road!!!! Shining star was the guitar player….jk!!!

Oh sweet Peanut has an awesome face – oh to be a cat would be the best life! Our cats just sleeeeeeeep like crazy!

  • Tara says:

PEANUT! I swear, seeing that cat always make me happy. He’s really photogenic. Funny looking, but very photogenic!

The flower shot is pretty! The sushi made me do a double-take because I thought you meant real sushi at first, so I was surprised seeing they weren’t real. You’re right that they do look very realistic!

Can’t wait to see the next Project 52! 😀 Glad you had a good Memorial Day Weekend!

  • Amanda says:

Peanut looks so adorable. He has such gorgeous eyes! 😀

Oh I love those RE-MENT sets! I wanted to buy a few boxes when I was in Japan town last weekend but I decided not to. Something about tiny food is always appealing, haha!

Glad you had fun over the weekend! Send some of that rain over here to California ^-^ We definitely have way too much sunshine right now, sigh :'(

  • Tiff says:

Nice job on those pictures!! I really like that you have a Project 52 instead of a Project 365…seems exponentially more manageable. I pretty much gave up on A Day in the Life because it just took too much work & I didn’t bother to fill in the dates on my calendar or anything. OH WELL, I run a food blog so dgaf.

Anyway, the details on the sushi is pretty astonishing! Do you have a close up of it?? Beautiful wildflowers too. Really digging that shallow depth of field too. 🙂

Also, every time I visit your blog, I keep trying to scroll up to see the rest of your face only realizing that it’s not there hahaha. I like that. Makes it seem like you’re a mystery!

    • Cat says:

Thanks! I’ve finished a Project 365 before, and a Project 52 is definitely more manageable and also more fun. A 365 ended up feeling like a chore after a while.

I couldn’t get much closer on the sushi pic! I don’t have a macro lens, and the figures are soooo small. The photo is even cropped a bunch too!

haha, when I was making the layout, I was debating on where I should crop (if any) on my face 🙂 I thought it looked kind of cool this way, but I wasn’t sure if it’d be a bit weird!

  • Raisa says:

Peanut!! He is so cute. I want to pet him!

Congrats on making it to the next level of the video game tournament! That sounds really exciting. I’m not cut out for professional gaming, but I’m super impressed at people who can do it.

  • The wildflowers look amazing. So bright and colorful, which is right in this weather! The chubby cat is soooo adorable I can’t even… *.* Lastly, those are great miniature sets! Haha I’d be interested to own one for sure 🙂

  • Jasmine says:

Such detailing on those sushi plates! Nice quality and from flowers to construction 😀

  • Kristine says:

Hey Cat, do you still live in Austin? I saw the photos of downtown and it was covered in water! I hope all is well with you.

    • Cat says:

I do live in Austin! Some areas definitely flooded badly, but fortunately, my house was in a safe area. We still got a ton of rain though. Thanks for checking in on me!

  • Liv says:

Ooo you have a new theme! It’s so nice and clean and I love how it features you in a subtle way! (Sorry if this is old news hehe, as we know I haven’t been around.)

How are you doing otherwise? I heard about the flooding in Texas, not sure if that’s near you, but it certainly sounded tough. I read about a few victims as well. 🙁 Stay safe!

Peanut is so cute haha, lazy cats always make the best photos! The little sushi set is adorable too. Miniature food is just as good as real food, heh.

    • Cat says:

Thanks! I’m glad you like the new theme! 😀

My city flooded, but it was mainly the areas near the creeks and rivers (closer to downtown). Fortunately, my house was in a safe area, so we didn’t get any flood damage, just a ton of rain. Some areas got it pretty bad though 🙁

I love unexpected fun weekends. It sounds like you had a good time. I haven’t seen Mad Max yet but I’d like to make time to see it before I go on holiday.

    Peanut is so cute!

  • Kya says:

That is great that you got to catch up with your friend.

I adore the photos and Peanut is so photogenic it hurts! 😀 <3

  • Claudine says:

Peanut is so adorableeee! 🙂 He looks so funny but super duper cute! Cats are the cutest! <3

Nice job with the Project 52! I think it's definitely more manageable than a Project 365 (which I never finished, lol). You took really great photos! 😀

  • Georgie says:

The sushi looks delicious! I love things like those, I have some cute food models I bought from Japan, but for me they end up just sitting around and taking up space so I didn’t buy too many. 😛

I love the photo of Peanut! He sure seems super lazy and the photo really captures his personality. XD

I heard a lot of people talking about how good the new Mad Max movie is. I have never seen the originals though. It was quite funny – at work we were having lunch and most of us are in the 23-30 age gap, and all but one guy had heard of Mad Max. Even I have heard of it and I am not usually into movies. We were all very surprised that he wasn’t even aware of it. 😛

  • Nancy says:

Hope you had an awesome Memorial Day away from work :D. I’ve heard about the heavy rain in Texas! Stay safe and away from the flood if you can!!!

I love the quality pictures you take! It makes me want to actually invest in a good quality camera :D. It’s cool how your name is Cat (for short) and the machines sya Cat!!!

And the sushi miniature figures are so adorable :3 :3 :3. I would eat them if I can!!!!!!

  • Ongaku says:

They do look good enough to eat, yum yum. Peanut is so adorable! Man, I have kitty cat fever. I need to stop looking so I’m not tempted to get one. 0_0
I like the pictures you took. I need to go out and do that. I let my sister borrow my older DSLR so she can take pictures of flowers and stuff to try painting this summer.

Sorry! This entry is old, so comments are closed. Check out my recent blog posts though!
