Project 52, part 8

My recent trips have made me behind on posting my usual Project 52 recap! In August, I was busy processing photos from San Japan and working on cosplay for AnimeFest, so I actually forgot about taking a photo a couple times and scrambled to come up with something.

I feel like I’ll be back in my normal groove after September. I’m currently post processing photos from AnimeFest, and then I’ll be doing event photography at the end of the month for work. For now, here’s a recap of weeks 31-36!

#31 – Sakura
Week 31 was San Japan, and Treacly is a cosplayer I’ve worked with multiple times! She always picks characters with cute or elaborate dresses, and they’re so fun to photograph. For San Japan, she chose CardCaptor Sakura, and this is one of my favorites from the shoot. (More photos in this Flickr album.)

#32 – Personas
I was working on my Phi cosplay when I realized I hadn’t done my photo of the week yet. I searched my mind for ideas and then noticed my closet of costumes. I pulled some out with recognizable designs and made a collage with them. There’s 7 costumes in the photo. Can you name them all? (If you’re not sure, you can compare them to my costumes page, and it becomes kind of obvious!)

Project 52, part 7

Aahh, July has been so busy that I’m behind on reading blogs! The past two weeks have especially been busy when it comes to work.

Two weeks ago, my company decided to do a Fix-It Week with all developers to pay off some “technical debt”. With so many developers and sometimes looming deadlines, we’ve all done some things quickly that we meant to go back and fix. We also use Ruby on Rails which is constantly evolving and our code must change along with it.

I led one of the teams (of about 10 people) to update some outdated frontend code. There were 279 instances of a pattern we wanted to rewrite, and we managed to rewrite all of them! I was so proud of my team that I baked them cupcakes at the end of the week to celebrate 😀

Now 4 other developers and I are taking the task of getting the code together for a release, and that’s taking up my time for the next couple weeks. I also spent all day Friday at a Javascript conference! It was a single track conference with 15 speakers. The talks varied but were mostly about Javascript, CSS, and other client-side things (performance, security, etc). Though it was a tiring day, I really enjoyed it. I will have a separate entry about my day there!

With July almost over, that means it’s time for another Project 52 recap! This is for weeks 27-30, which is the first week of July up til now.

#27 – Summer Grilling
Though we didn’t do anything special for the Independence Day weekend, we made sure we at least did some grilling. Bratwursts and corn are a couple of our favorites to cook on the grill 😀

Project 52, part 6

This recap is for weeks 22-26, which means I’m halfway through my Project 52 now! Since I started this project on the first week of the year, it also means that we’re halfway through 2015 🙂 Pretty crazy how time flies, huh?

Looking back on the past 6 months, I did 6 photoshoots at Ikkicon, went to PAX South, did a Gorillaz photoshoot at the lake, won a hackathon, and moved to a new work building! Not a bad year so far 🙂 I’m looking forward to the second half of the year since I’ll be going to more Anime conventions, and I also wait until Fall to take vacation (better weather and less popular travel season).

This past month has been pretty fun too. Here’s a look back at my Project 52 photos for the past 5 weeks!

#22 – Welcome to Historic Sixth Street
This is a mural located on 6th Street and I-35. I see it every time I’m in the area and love the bright colors on it. We were there recently to get some ramen, so I finally took a photo of it!
