Project 52, part 2

I’ve now finished 9 weeks of my Project 52, and I’m still going strong! I’m having more fun with this than with the Project 365 I did in the past. I’m actually excited to take my weekly photo, though this will probably change as I run out of ideas. Hopefully that won’t happen for a while 🙂

I also added a Project 52 category, and I’m posting weekly on my Flickr and Tumblr if you want to follow along. Now for a recap of weeks 5-9!

#5 – Black and White: Knives Chau
I don’t take many black and white photos, so I forced myself to for week 5. This is me dressed as Knives Chau (Scott Pilgrim movie version)! I used a white wall, a speedlight through a white flash umbrella, and wireless triggers to remotely trigger the camera and flash.

#6 – New Adventures
I went to a nearby lake to scout locations for an upcoming photoshoot. It made me think of Wind Waker, so I brought my Link nendoroid figure along for a photoshoot of his own 🙂 (I probably looked really weird to people passing by since I had to lay down on my stomach to get this shot…)

#7 – Work In Progress
I was working on a drawing for Chinese New Year (year of the goat) and wanted to take a photo with all of the Prismacolor pencils I used for it. I thought it was a finished work until I saw the photo afterwards and realized there were things I wanted to add. Thus it’s a WIP XD;;

#8 – Black and White: Chell
I decided to do another black and white cosplay photo for week 8! This time it’s of my Portal cosplay. I wanted a shot from the back to show off the Aperture Science logo. I took this photo similarly to the Knives Chau one, except I switched to a reflective flash umbrella.

#9 – You’ve met with a terrible fate, haven’t you?
I’ve been sooo addicted to Majora’s Mask lately. Such good memories of this game 😀 Since the weather has been cold, wet, and dreary lately, I did another indoors shoot. I set up a black fabric background and took photos of my Skull Kid figure.

I like how the photo turned out with this set-up, so I’ll probably do some more figure photography this way!

And that’s it for now! The next recap will probably be in 4-5 weeks again. Now that it’s March, I’m hoping the weather will get better. It’d be nice if I could add some more outdoors shots to the collection!

Nice recaps of your week! I love how your Link figurine photo turned out. That’s so cute!

And ah, Majora’s Mask . . . I’ve never played it, but I can never forget that crazy moon in the game! XD The photoshoot of the figurine turned out neat! Love how it contrasted well with the black background.

Can’t wait to see more of your Project 52!

Yayayay congratulations on finishing week 9 of 52 ;). You’re off to a strong start so far! I like the black and white picture you took! Looks so mysterious :D. I always find it cute when people take pictures of little figures in the big world.

Your sketch of the goat looks amazing!! Perfect for the new year ;D. Keep up the good work 😀 😀

I love the black and white photos! Your face is so strong in the first one, it’s amazing. The lightning in your photos is so good! And the Legend of Zelda figures, toooooo adorable!! I hope the weather will be better as well! I went outside today thinking ‘it’s so sunny, I don’t need my scarf or gloves today!’. Well, mistake made :”D So weird that already 9 weeks of 52 have passed!

Oh my gosh look at Wind Waker Link! That’s such a great picture, as is Skull Kid. You look great as Knives! Love the hair. It looks great in black and white, it adds a lot of mood to the picture, but it’s balanced really well!

You are not weird. I have several accounts on Instagram dedicated to stuffed animals like @purple_ultros and @lighthouse_amphy or a one for my pup, @annie_annabelle <3

    Totally not plugging here XD

I still need that nendoroid. Lol I have so many Links XD

That’s an awesome idea! To do a project with photography. Thanks for suggesting that on my site. It’s a good way to keep bringing out my camera and take photos. I’m definitely considering and I’m trying to figure out how to go about it.

I love your drawing btw! Very talented!!

  • Jhanz says:

You are so talented! You also take wonderfuuuul images. <3

I love the style of the black and white photographs. They look amazing.

I’ve started taking some of my blog photographs on a black background (my coffee table!)and I think it makes the object stand out a lot more, like your Skull Kid figure.

These look so awesome! I wish I had more guts when it comes to photography in public. I usually don’t even like to be seen with my camera as there are so many hipsters in my area that whip out their DSLRs to take pictures of their food or espresso.

Really like the way the Skull Kid shot came out. I’ll have to try to something similar, my indoor skills could definitely use some brushing up.

  • Carolynne says:

WOW, you really do have some GREAT photography talent!! Beautiful photos.
