My Favorite Things: February 2015

my-favorite-things

I decided to join the “My Favorite Things” link-up this month, so go check it out! Here are things I’ve been loving the past month 🙂

Homemade Curry

Maybe it’s because of the colder weather, but my husband and I have been addicted to making curry at home lately. Well, my husband does most of the cooking really. I help with some of the prep and then get to enjoy the results 😉 We’ve made Japanese curry multiple times and started making Thai curries too. The last one we made was Panang curry, and we will be trying yellow curry and massaman curry next!

Hunter x Hunter Gon Freecss figure

I’m going to be honest; I didn’t like the story arc that this figure came from. However, LOOK AT THAT HAIR. I could not resist. I had to have this figure just because of how ridiculous it looks. I had a pretty good laugh unboxing it too. The figure was so long, the store had to stick two boxes together to package it.

I also can’t help but smile every time I look over at my figures from my computer desk because… well, just look at it 😉

Mandrill WordPress Plugin

This might be a weird thing to add to the list, but it’s solved my WordPress email problems, which makes me so happy. I have WordPress set up to email me whenever I get a new comment, and there’s been random periods where I don’t get any of the emails. During those periods, I also tested if replying to a comment sends out an email and… I didn’t get anything either! I even checked my spam folder and nothing.

I finally looked it up last month and ran into this article that explains why you might not receive emails. It includes a couple solutions, so I went with the Mandrill one. Easy to set up, free for 12,000 emails per month, and now I consistently get WordPress emails!

Orcs Must Die!

I’ve written about this series a couple times already. I recommended the 2nd game a year ago, and beat the first game just last December. I continued playing the first game last month to get 5 skulls in every Nightmare level (highest difficulty). I was so addicted to it! I even dreamed about the game a couple times due to how much I played it! (Sadly, I was alone in my love for the Nightmare levels, which you can see in the 2nd screenshot.)

And that’s it for now! Have a good weekend everyone 🙂

OMG! I also LOOOOOVE curry! 🙂 I’m glad to know I’m not the only one. LOL 😀

  • Tara says:

Yum on the curries! Just, yum! I’m seriously craving for Indian curries these days, but most of my friends here are not into Indian, so BOOOOOOOO. I need more Indian-food loving friends!

And thanks for the heads up on the WP email thing. I haven’t encountered any issues with that, so I hope it never happens to me!

I don’t think that I’ve ever tried curry before…and I can definitely see how your new figurine makes you smile. I’m smiling just glancing at the picture of your desk, and thanks so much for the information about the WP email thing. Sadly, I hardly ever get comments…so I don’t have to worry about it at the moment. But I’m going to download the Mandrill plugin so that I have it. 🙂

  • Uglyfish says:

Oh those curries look so yummy! Are they difficult to prepare? I’m so bad at cooking.
I love the figurines! His hair looks so funny sticking up over all of the other figures! I thought it was a fancy branch at first.
    Orcs must Die! Yay!

    • Cat says:

The curries aren’t very hard to make, but they can be kind of time consuming! The Japanese curry requires a lot of prep, but the Thai curries don’t need as much. We also buy the pastes/roux for the curries, so that saves a bit of time.

  • Raisa says:

I love curry! Japanese curry is one of my favorites, but I also love yellow curry. I recently found a recipe for banana curry that I’ve been meaning to try. 😀

And that Gon figure is INSANE! Haha. XD

  • Michelle says:

Haven’t tried playing Orcs Must Die, but I must admit that I love curry. <3

  • Eirene says:

Yesss curry is so good! Nom nom nom. I think my favourite has to be Malaysian/Singaporean curries yum. And wow that hair on that figurine is impressive O_O!

  • Carolynne says:

I’ve never had a problem with not receiving emails, but if I ever do, I will keep that plugin in mind! Glad it solved your problem. I love curry, but the only recipes I have contain coconut milk. Unfortunately my husband hates the taste of coconut, so I never make it. Any winning recipes?

  • Claudine says:

Oh man, I LOVE CURRY!!! My dad makes my favorite kind. I actually don’t know what it’s called, but it’s a dish that originated from the southern islands of the Philippines. Ah, I miss eating curry 🙂

That Gon figure looks funny! What’s up with the hair?! LOL!

I see that you have Professor Layton figures too! I love that series 😀

  • Amy says:

Some interesting things on here. I remember seeing the figures o your Instagram ^^ He looks so funny hehehe.

My boyfriend makes curry all the time but I can’t take a lot of spice D: Not manly enough xD

  • Nancy says:

This is the perfect time of year to make curry! Anything warm taste best when the weather outside is cold ;). I always dread of eating soupy food during the summer because of sweating ;~;.

The Hunter’s hair is so long!!!!!!!!! I like how it stands out like that!! I feel the same way about you dreaming about games except I keep on dreaming about movies with cars! … Like Need For Speed. Yay~

  • Becca says:

What a great idea for a blog post! I thought of the song from the Sound of Music, “and these are a few of my favorite things…” 🙂

I’ve never had curry – I’ve wanted to try it, though I am a little hesitant because I’m not sure I’ll like it, but I really want to try more Indian cuisine. I just have to find somebody to go with me because Andrew is so picky ;P

Oh my goodness! Hahaha, that hair is ridiculous! I love it!

  • Jenny says:

I love Japanese curry, and I agree, it’s such a great food for the winter time! And that figure with the long hair cracks me up too – I guess you don’t need to watch the anime to appreciate the humor!

  • Kya says:

That is lovely that you can make the food together and really enjoy it. 😀

Haha, that hair is pretty amazing. The figures all look so great. I can understand while you would smile. 😀

That is good that you solved the problem about the missing email notifications on comments. I had that problem for a while, but found most of them in my spam, so I think that was my issue. But it would have been really annoying when they were just missing. 🙁

Sorry! This entry is old, so comments are closed. Check out my recent blog posts though!
