I’m back

And I’m horribly behind on everything. Since my entry back in April, I worked on cosplay every day, except for when I was out of town for a short trip. So! What has happened since then?

– I finished Breath of the Wild (Ganon, all shrines, all beasts, all side quests) after spending like 150 hours in the game. (I have learned that the Switch actually tracks this…)

– While cleaning my house, I found a ton of star paper, which a couple coworkers and I used up and then put the resulting stars into jars for each person on our team.

– I took a new Yuri cosplay photo for funsies to show off my new phone charm (which I like to call “phone-ception”).

– I went to Philadelphia for a few days for my brother’s wedding! It was a lovely wedding, and I love that I could spend time with my cousins and family. I also met up with Joy again, and we met each other’s husbands!

And finally, the result of all that cosplay work… I finished my newest Tashigi cosplay! (I have all of it documented on my cosplay blog if youโ€™re interested.)

Unfortunately, my friend and I didn’t quite finish his McCree cosplay, and we were still hand sewing some pieces at the Airbnb after we arrived in Fort Worth for the convention. As for the con, it was a lot of fun! More quick summaries!

– I went with 4 coworkers, and it was a first time for 2 of them. (Fortunately, they really enjoyed it.)

– I went as Pokemon Go Trainer on Friday and was immediately surrounded by a large group of Team Skull cosplayers. It was funny, but I had no idea what to do!

– I fangirled to Yaya Han about how I’ve been following her works for a long time and used her McCall’s pattern for my Pokemon Go cosplay.

– I was so happy to recognize a few artists at the artist alley as ones that I had already been following on Tumblr. I definitely bought some prints from them!

– I also did the creepy thing of running into a few cosplayers and being like, “wait, are you ___ on Instagram? I think I follow you on it.” But hey, I made new cosplay friends!

– On Saturday, several One Piece cosplayers told me about a meet-up that wasnโ€™t on the schedule, and lo and behold, a lot of One Piece cosplayers showed up to it! As always, itโ€™s fun to be with a bunch of cosplayers from the same series, and I was the only Tashigi again.

All “non-Staw Hats” (non-main characters) cosplayers at the meet-up.

– Saturday night, we went for a boba tea run and recognized another person there as an artist in the artist alley that we liked. She was so nice and sweet! We ended up sitting together and talking for a bit.

– Lastly, I did a few photoshoots for other cosplayers, one of which was Michelle! Hereโ€™s a preview from each one.

Now that convention-craziness is over, I’m ready to get back into the swing of things. I miss playing video games, and I miss reading everyone’s blogs. Time to play catch up!

Thanks for sharing about your month of May! It’s great to take a break and fill that time with a bunch of other things you enjoy doing! ๐Ÿ™‚ And since you’re so passionate about cosplay I don’t think it’s creepy at all to introduce yourself to other cosplayers you follow. Congrats to your brother for his marriage, and that’s awesome you got to meet up with Joy!

BREATH OF THE WILD. How do I even begin describing that game. Did you get all 900 Korok seeds too!? ๐Ÿ˜€ I just completed my second dungeon, and I wanna get the Master Sword at least before completing the last two and killing Ganon.

Wow you put me on nostalgia lane with those paper stars! I love those things.

Do you have a photo of you with the grunt cosplayers? What team were they? I think you missed the name. ๐Ÿ˜›

    • Cat says:

I drew the line at the Korok seeds because 900 is way too many! I just made sure I got enough to max my weapon slots and to upgrade some of the others.

Oops, I meant to write Team Skull, haha. I’ll fix that now ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m kicking myself for not taking a photo or video. There were so many of them, and they were all mimicking their hand motions! It was funny and overwhelming at the same time!

Welcome back, Cat! You’ve been missed ๐Ÿ˜€

Yay for finishing up the game. And those star jars for your team member — that’s such a sweet gesture! I like how you separated them by colours to make the rainbow!

That new phone charm — PERFECT! It’s such a cute one. I love that Phichit is on it!

Yay for meeting Joy and for the husbands to meet, too. Looks like a fun meeting! I hope to meet you and her one day, too!

That cosplay — great job! Looks super detailed and such. Thanks for sharing your cosplay photos. It’s always great seeing you going to cons and such! ^^

Welcome back from your little break! It’s so cool that you and your coworkers made a bunch of star origamis. The phone-ception picture is so cute! I’ve always wondered how phone charms worked on iPhones. Stringing it around the camera area works XD.

Congratulations to your brother for getting married! It’s great that you got a chance to meet up with Joy again! Hope you all had fun meeting up. I’m loving your involvement with cosplay! Your shots are legit!

  • Michelle says:

I can’t thank you enough for your time and skill in photography but I loved that Yuri keychain and case! OMG. It has been crazy and I still haven’t beaten all of the Shrines yet or found all of the Koroks. XD

Your cosplay came out great! Cons are so much fun, I’m looking forward to going to another one. Are you going to Magical Girl Day in Houston?
    I’m excited for that!

    • Cat says:

Thanks! Ooh, I didn’t know about Magical Girl Day actually. That looks cool, but I probably can’t make it!

  • Amy says:

Welcome back to blogging! It sounds like you had a very busy break!

I love your Yuri phone charm and phone case. I’ve seen so many cool Yuri on Ice! phone cases on Redbubble that I wouldn’t know which one to choose. They’re all so lovely!

Congrats on doing such an amazing job with your cosplay! It looks fantastic! Can definitely relate to your friends unfinished one though. I’ve had cons where I’m sewing the whole night before! So stressful!

Glad you had a great time at con. I love the photos you took. Michelle’s cosplay is so cool!

Yay for finishing the game! The graphics on the game looked really pretty via the pictures I’ve seen. I know Steam tracks hours too and I feel like a really slow player since I read reviews where people finish the game so fast, haha.

All the cosplay photos look really nice (also One Piece ftw)! That’s really cool you can meet lots of people via similar interests ๐Ÿ˜€

That’s also really nice you got to meet (re-meet? haha) a fellow blogger. It seems like that is happening a lot and I’m always a little jealous xD

  • Katy says:

Welcome back, and well done on completing Breath of the Wild! Will you be getting the season pass?
The star jars look so nice all lined up! I’d easily believe they were sweets too.
I think all your cosplays are amazing, but I really like your Pokรฉmon Go costume – you’ve got it down perfectly! Being surrounded by Team Skull must have been quite unnerving =p

It’s lovely that you got to see Joy and Michelle again, too!

    • Cat says:

I’m not sure about the season pass! Some of the new BotW things look like they’ll be neat, but I feel like I should also spend time on other games, haha. And thanks!

  • Cassidy says:

I’m loving your cosplay pics! They’re absolutely stunning.

Welcome back! I’m so excited to read more blog posts from you.

I’ll definitely have to add these animes to my ever growing list of what to watch.

  • Cristina says:

All your hard work for the cosplay paid off. Your costume was amazing. Seems like you had been very busy, but I guess you had a lot of fun. I love the star paper jars. They look so cute <3. I will try to do some for myself <3

  • Pauline says:

Welcome back Cat, I missed reading your posts!

Wow, it sounds like you have been busy since you last blogged but it seems like you’ve had a fantastic busy “break” away.

I always admire your dedication to your cosplay, it’s an art honestly! Well done you for getting so involved in the community and making friends from it ๐Ÿ™‚ It seems like it’s all very much worthwhile.

I’ve said it before but I love your workplace, it seems like such a great team to be a part of and super motivating. The jars is such a cute idea! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for your birthday wishes lovely!
