Recap: March 2017

March was a good month that seemed to fly by too quickly. I celebrated my birthday, took a quick trip, and totally didn’t work on my goals due to a couple video games releasing that I’ve been looking forward to. It’s been an eventful month though, so here’s a quick recap!

Escape Room

In February, I took one of my teams to an outing at a golf driving range. In March, I took my other team to an escape room! (Each team votes for what they want to do.) Initially, I had issues finding one that could fit 13 people, but then a coworker told me about a new one he saw. It supports up to 18 people, and it divides you into 3 teams that have to work together to get out. It was such a neat idea!

When we got there, we saw that there were 3 rooms that were connected with open doorways, so we were able to talk and pass things to each other. However, we couldn’t leave the room we were in. We had to work together to solve all the puzzles. For example, a puzzle in my room could reveal a clue or code that a different room then had to use. We managed to escape with 5 minutes left!

Addicted to Video Games

Unfortunately, I didn’t do well with my goals in March due to being addicted to video games. Both Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mass Effect Andromeda came out, which are from two of my favorite video game series. I was actually quite torn in having to split my time between the two, but I ended up spending most of my time playing Breath of the Wild. (This entry and returning comments are late because of that…) I also started playing The Witness before being pulled off by the other two games.

Quick Trip to Pennsylvania

Lastly, I took a quick trip to Pennsylvania at the end of the month! My mom and I went for my sister-in-law’s bridal shower and stayed with her and my brother. It was great seeing them, and I also got to meet Joy in person!!!

We talked a lot about various things, and it felt like we had totally done this before, even though it was our first time meeting. I was so happy we could finally meet πŸ˜€ She also made me a hat! She is so sweet!

Other Small Achievements

  • I managed to mostly quit soda. I used to drink soda 3-5 times a week, but in March, I only had soda twice in the whole month.
  • I debuted a new cosplay, which is from Yuri on Ice! This was a “for fun” one that I mainly wanted to take photos of at home. I’ll probably go back to working on my Tashigi cosplay now.

Monthly Goals

Welp, this is where I failed. I didn’t do my March goals at all. Because of that, I’m moving those goals to April.

  • Start an Ember project – I did read a bit more on Ember, but I didn’t start my project like I had planned.
  • Clear out at least half of the “box room” – I uh, barely went into this room in March. Hopefully, I’ll get around to this in April because I’d actually like to move my sewing room to this one.

That’s it for March! Now to be a bit more productive in April!

I’m going to Chicago this weekend for a wedding and originally planned on playing Escape Room with other wedding guests, but it’s not gonna happen anymore because the weather’s too nice and I have to tour! XD It’s so nice to meet online friends because you really feel you’ve known them forever, even though you’ve never met! One of my best friends lives in Australia and she visited me for the first time last summer. It was like we had hung out our entire lives!

Congratulations on quitting soda! I actually did the same thing in March, detox sugar. I used to drink a sugary drink (not soda, but regardless) every day, which is horrible. In March I resisted and resisted, and only treated myself to boba once a week. I’m actually gonna cut down on that now too and only get dessert or boba if I’m going out with friends who really want it. It’s like social drinking!!! Cept it’s boba. πŸ˜€

PS. Please write more about Breath of the Wild!! Not the plot of course. πŸ˜›

I’ve heard a lot of great things about the escape room! glad to hear that you solved the puzzle with time to spare. I’ve heard a lot about Mass Effect Andromeda. It’s almost tempting me to go out and buy one XD. Playing games is definitely my reason for being late on everything.

I’m glad to hear that you go to meet Joy in person! Joy is sweet for making you a pretty hat. She’s so talented with her creations.

It’s good that you’re trying to quit soda. I’ve stopped for a few years and only drink it if it’s in cocktails. On the bright side, there are alternatives to soda. If you’re looking for something fizzy, kombucha is a good choice (even though it’s pretty expensive for a bottle compared to a can of soda). Your cosplay outfit looks great so far!

Good luck with your April goals :).

Escape Rooms! We have those in Seoul, but I’ve not yet tried any of them. They’re definitely a great group thing to do πŸ˜€ Good on you for escaping within the time limit ^^

Nothing wrong with video games XD Though they do cut into productivity if you’re playing a game you really like XD I need to play some myself . . .

You’re so lucky to meet Joy in person! I hope to meet her in the future and you, too! The hat she made you is awesome! She’s such a sweetheart!

Good on you for limiting your soda intake! I find that mixing juice and sparkling water would be a good alternative. Oh, or just drinking sparkling water that’s flavoured with lemon or lime — those are my soda alternatives.

I LOVE YOUR YUURI COSPLAY. HOMG. So perfect!!!! The onigiri pillow, the phone case, the jacket, the hair! Love it!

I’ve been to an escape room once and I LOVED it! My friend is thinking of doing one for her birthday, so I’m pretty excited if she does πŸ˜€

I’m crying with happiness that you got to meet Joy. She is wonderful and amazing and talented and omg, I just love her.

Congrats on limiting your soda intake – I pretty much only drink water and coffee these days, but sometimes that odd can of soda will slip into my fingers and it can be game over. I crave it so bad sometimes!

    Have a great April!

I’ve heard of escape rooms and they sound really interesting! It’s awesome that you do team building stuff together. I don’t think I would ever go to one because puzzle games frustrate me and I’m not very good at them, haha.

Congrats on lowering your intake of soda! I know how hard it is to resist something you really like or are tempted to eat/drink/enjoy it. I tried to lower my coffee intake but am failing miserably lol. Also very cool that you got to meet a fellow blogger in person!

Good luck on your April goals!

That escape room sounds very much like one I did when we had six people in our team. I have actually never seen one (not yet, anyway) that allowed more than 10 people, but we did a complex escape room where one of my coworkers and I were stuck in one room (handcuffed!) and we could only communicate with the rest of our team in the other room by shouting through the door. It was really amusing and also a little bit scary because the theming was around a doctor who wanted us for human experiments!!

I’m glad you got to meet Joy in person! I really look forward to meeting a lot of blogger friends and I hope to get that opportunity more in the future. Obviously it requires travelling and some kind of coincidence, for the most part ?

I love the hat! So cute! ?

I actually drink more soda than I used to. I never used to drink it at all, but now I have it maybe once a week. Nick drinks soda more frequently and I find that it is actually quite nice to have a drink with a meal that’s not water. I always go for the ones with no sugar, but it’s still not that good for you hahah.

Haha, good luck with Ember and the box room in the coming month. ? I started learning more JavaScript myself, but I want to crack down and work a lot harder on it. I’ve actually started to write a bigger list of goals to achieve by the time I’m 27 (next year)… I usually dislike long-term goals but I really want to skill up in JavaScript, if I could, I would wave a magic wand and do it! ?

Eeep! I like escape rooms so much! I used to do this with my former teammates and it was so much fun! Playing escape rooms is actually a popular team building activity in the Philippines haha!

Congrats on limiting your soda intake! I know it’s not easy to limit your consumption of something especially when you really, really like drinking it. But you’re getting there! Keep it up! πŸ™‚

Good luck on your April goals and I hope you get around to finishing everything! πŸ˜€

Your Yuri cosplay looks so amazing and yes, Breath of the wild was amazing! My favorite Princess Zelda incarnation this time around! OMG.’
Have a great April and I love that N7 jacket you got there πŸ˜€ I have a new gray one which I love also!

Sorry! This entry is old, so comments are closed. Check out my recent blog posts though!
