I’ve been having trouble finishing a few blog drafts lately, but then I remembered that I haven’t written about recent favorites yet this year. Since I skipped it last month, this will cover things I’ve been loving the past couple of months!
Movie: Moana
I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a Disney musical movie this much. Moana was such a fun and beautiful movie to watch. I loved watching her journey, and the music, oh man the music. The past month or so, I’ve been addicted to its soundtrack, especially We Know The Way, How Far I’ll Go, Where You Are, and I Am Moana.
As much as I appreciate female characters fighting against stereotypes, it’s also nice when they’re just not there to begin with? No one questioned that Moana would be the next chief or tried to marry her off, everyone was forbidden from leaving the island (not just Moana), and Maui underestimated her because she was mortal, not because of her gender. Seriously, finally.
Book: The Last Airbender Graphic Novels
One of my favorite shows ever is Avatar: The Last Airbender. I’ve seen it beginning to end at least 3 times, and every time I watch, I’m still amazed at how good it is. I recently bought the graphic novels as a gift for my husband, and of course, I had to read them too š They continue the story after the series ended and still feel very much like the shows. They help fill that gap that is between The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra, including answering questions like what happened to Azula, Zuko’s mom, and Toph’s parents. Definite recommend for Last Airbender fans!
Game: Rayman Legends
After finishing a couple games that were on the darker and violent side, I figured I was due for something brighter and sillier. I popped in Rayman Legends on the Wii U and was not disappointed. I recommend it for any platformer fans. The levels are fun, creative, and offer the “right” amount of challenge. They aren’t too easy, and several are pretty challenging without being too hard. I also love the music levels, which make me look forward to finishing each world!
Food: S’mores Girl Scout Cookies
I normally just buy Thin Mints and Caramel Delites, but this year, I saw that they had a S’mores one. They’re graham crackers with a thin marshmallow layer, covered in chocolate. At first, I wished that there was a bit more marshmallow, but after eating a couple more, I was hooked. I think I’ll be buying this one from now on! (Sorry for the boring stock photo. I ate all of mine already =P)
The end of February is soon, so my next entry will probably be my recap entry. I’m excited to write it because I’ve had a fairly productive month. Stay tuned!
Thank you so much for mentioned the Last Airbender graphic novels! Do you see a lot of Appa in them? It’s Matt’s birthday soon and I was struggling which what to get him, but you’ve just answered the question for me!
The music levels of Rayman Legends are brilliant – I love the Eye of the Tiger Mariachi level. I quite fancy playing it now!
I haven’t seen Moana yet, but I plan to! I love the soundtrack though, Lin-Manuel Miranda is a genius.
I’ve never had Girl Scout Cookies – those Sāmores biscuits sound delicious! Glad you’re enjoying them!
Sadly, there isn’t a lot of Appa and Momo =/ They’re really good though, so they’d make a good gift! I also recommend checking out The Lost Adventures, which is a collection of comics made while the series was running.
The best part of being American is the girl scout cookies haha.
I love the Avatar! I’ve been re-watching the series lately and I’m also amazed at how good it is. I had no idea the graphic novels continued the series and it does make me curious to read them.
As for the Legend of Korra… I’ve heard great things about it but I just can’t get past the first few episodes because of how teenager-y everyone is :/ I feel like for the Legend of Korra there is a set audience, while for the Avatar, the audience is more widespread.
I really didn’t like Legend of Korra season 1! I almost didn’t want to continue it, but fortunately, it gets better. Season 3 and 4 were actually pretty good! (Not Avatar-good but was much better than its first two seasons XD)
Girl Scout Cookies! I haven’t tried that S’mores one yet! I guess my dad didn’t see them or maybe they didn’t have them because he hasn’t brought that. He’s brought home Thin Mints, Caramel Delites, and a couple of others, but not that one! I hope to nab a box of it XD; Girl Scout Cookies crack me up because some of the people here say they’re like our local drug dealers for cookies. Shame they are not available all year long.
I’ve heard of Moana, but I haven’t watched it yet. The premise of it does sound interesting, so I may look into it in the future! It’s good that there weren’t any stereotypes to begin with! I like that. That’s how it should be. Have to admit, that titbit does interest me more on the film!
I havenāt seen Moana, but Iāve really been wanting to see it because Iāve heard such good reviews and I love everything Disney haha. I agree that itās nice when the stereotypes arenāt there to begin with.
Iāve not heard of Rayman Legend but it looks like something Iād like! We donāt have a Wii however š
I cannot wait for my Girl Scout cookies to come in!! I ordered nine boxes this year haha because I was jazzed about the new sāmores flavor and there is also a new Toffee flavor I hadnāt had before, so I had to order those in addition to my normal order. Plus, Andrew can eat a whole box like itās nothing, so I made sure to order quite a bit! Iām glad that you really liked the sāmores, that makes me want to try them even more!
Moana was amazing!!! Lin Manuel Miranda did an awesome job with the music, our baby loves the soundtrack – we play it daily.
I saw the avatar comics at my local shop, I HAD NO IDEA THERE WERE GRAPHIC NOVELS!!!! I am going to have to put that on my list to start collecting!
I love the shortbread cookies Girl Scout cookies as the best <3 I love the shortbread cookies. I still need to see Moana, but I did finally see Kubo and the Two Strings and it was amazing <3
I need to check out Moana! I heard it’s a really good movie and The Rock voiced Maui (big big big bonus). There was a video on Facebook that showed The Rock singing and he’s pretty good! I’ve been seeing Disney female characters putting on a new outlook for themselves and ditching the traditional, “find a guy, fall in love, the end” storyline.
It’s awesome when the story goes on after the intial ending. I haven’t seen Avatar before but I hear lots of great things about it ;). Glad that you enjoyed the novels!
Playing some brighter games definitely evens out violent games ;). I need some of this in my life XD. Rayman Legends looks like a cute game!

I have just written up my monthly round up post and on my favourites I mentioned Moana too! Haha, such a great movie. I really enjoyed it ā The soundtrack was great, How Far I’d Go was the song I had been singing since haha. So applicable to every situation I like to think ??
Hmmm Girl scout cookies sounds amazing. Ive only heard of them from American TV shows and have always wondered what they tasted like haha. But cookies are cookies and they’re always great ??

Recently the Starbucks in Australia had a Smores flavour (omg I just realised they were limited edition so are probably all gone now), and I totally enjoyed it. ? Everyone loves a good chocolate snack.
I havenāt seen Moana yet, but I havenāt seen a lot of recent Disney movies either. I like that there was no stereotyping. It can be a bit āughā when those are pointed out in a movie. Itās far more refreshing to just have it happen without that kind of thing. Iāve heard Disney are doing a great job of it in recent years.
