Happy Halloween

As the title says, Happy Halloween! I’ll admit that I wasn’t always excited for Halloween, but that changed after I started cosplaying. It gave me another event to make a costume for, and I can take advantage of the Halloween sales at fabric and craft stores. Plus, when people ask me what I’m making, I can say it’s for a costume without feeling weird about it. Wins all around!

And that’s the reason why I took a short break from blogging and blog hopping. I was working on my costume! I saw that my work’s party and my friend’s party were the Friday and Saturday before Halloween, and I realized I miscalculated and had one less weekend than I originally thought. I went into cram mode to finish it up.

If you’ve been following me on social media, you already know what I went as. I’m my trainer in Pokemon Go!

This one was fun due to Pokemon Go’s early popularity, so many people knew what it was. I got a lot of nice feedback and also won runner-up in our work’s Halloween costume party 😀 Several people asked me if I bought the costume or altered clothing for it, but I actually made most of it from scratch! My cosplay blog shows how I made the jacket, romper, gloves, and belt.

It’s comfortable to wear, though it does suffer from a common cosplay problem. It’s not a very practical outfit. I was tempted to wear it while Pokemon hunting, but it’s too warm for the current weather. (Texas did not get the memo that it’s autumn now, and I’m still wearing shorts and a T-shirt.)

It’s also really inconvenient for using the restroom. First, I have to completely take off the gloves, jacket, and belt. Then I have to unzip the romper from the back before pulling it and the tights down. In other words, I’m removing every costume part except for the hat and shoes. I knew this would be an issue before making it, but sometimes sacrifices have to be made for cosplay!

I still really love this outfit, and I plan to have better photos taken of it later. I did manage to finish it a couple days early, so I went back to the craft store and bought some colored poster board for paper crafting. I made a few ghost Pokemon to hang up in the office!

Late night paper crafting. I felt like making some ghost Pokemon ? #pokemon

For those who celebrate Halloween, have fun and stay safe! I have another busy week ahead since it’s my work’s user conference, and I’m helping with the event photography. I will make it around to everyone’s blog soon! I also have my last two Japan trip entries mostly written which cover Yokohama and the Ghibli Museum, so I hope to post those next!

Your costume/cosplay outfit is amazing! Cosplaying is a good excuse for Halloween XD It goes hand-in-hand in my head. Your outfit turned out really well. Sucks that it’s too hot for Texas weather, though. It suddenly turned freezing here, so you’d have been able to wear that here, haha! Also, it does sound like an impractical outfit for the restroom O_o At the least it’s comfortable to wear (minus the hotness) and it even does look comfy! It’s funny people think you bought it! That means it looks so authentic that people can only think it was store-bought instead of hand-made 🙂

Amazing cosplay/costume. I’m glad you had a good Halloween, I know I did. Hahaha

I saw your costume on Instagram, it’s great! 😀 The romper looks pretty comfortable but yeah, I imagine going to the bathroom must’ve been a chore, haha!
I had to read on your cosplay blog how you made the accessories because if I wanted to do something like that I wouldn’t even know where to start. It’s impressive, you really have to be creative to be a cosplayer 🙂

Great costume! It looks really comfortable, but it must be a pain when you need the toilet. I love wearing jumpsuits and playsuits…until I need to go!

I saw someone online who had dressed up as a Pokestop. I thought it was hilarious!

Your PokemonGo outfit is on point!! You look like your character :). It’s pretty awesome how you’re really detailed with all of your cosplay outfits. My ninja costume gave me the same issue last year where I had to take off the whole thing to go to the restroom. It’s so annoying! The ghost Pokemon posters are so adorable!!

Sounds like you had an awesome Halloween 🙂

I saw your cosplay on Instagram/Facebook and was really impressed haha! Well done – you really look like your character and I know you put in a lot of effort into it! Haha, I tend to avoid outfits like that because I drink a lot of water/tea so it would be very inconvenient!

That’s such an awesome idea for a costume and you’ve made it so well, also! Can’t believe you made it all from scratch, it looks amazing. Wish I had your sewing skills!

I hate wearing things like that though. I own so many onesies, and it’s so annoying whenever I need the toilet. Definitely sympathise with you on that!

I love your ghost Pokemon as well. So cool. Hope you had a great Halloween!

I can’t wait to hear your post on the Ghibli museum! I’d love to visit!

that is too cute!! my husband and I didn’t dress up this year but we got a little Pikachu outfit for him to wear! his first costume ever and I was happy it was a Pokemon lol. so much props to your sewing skills though!! I admit that is one skill I never acquired. I’m pretty useless in even hemming pants lol. one of these days I’ll figure out how to sew!!! I really should in case in the future my son’s clothes needs repairing as most kids do lol

lol that’s why I couldn’t wear rompers because of the whole going to the bathroom thing. always felt weird having to take everything off hahaha.

Happy belated Halloween. I absolutely adore your costume, it looks amazing! 😀

Your cosplay looks great!! LOL I can see how it could cause problems though. Reminds me of the time we were stupid and wore leotards for a costume and when it came time to have to pee it was pure torture. LOL

Are you finally starting to see some cool weather now? I was so sad that October punked out on us but at least it finally dropped some last week. Though it is warm again.

Sorry! This entry is old, so comments are closed. Check out my recent blog posts though!
